Lovesong

Synopsis

Sarah (Riley Keough), a young mother, raises her precocious daughter in their country home while feeling abandoned by her husband, who perpetually travels for work.

When Sarah’s old friend Mindy (Jena Malone) comes to visit, they decide to take a road trip, and after an alcohol-infused heart-to-heart, a long unspoken intimacy emerges between the longtime friends. Later Sarah is unable to articulate her thoughts about her husband or Mindy, and Mindy makes the decision to leave the trip and go home. Three years later, the two women are reunited for Mindy’s wedding, and Sarah is forced to reconcile the reality of her feelings.

47 Metres Down

Fun-loving, twenty-something, sisters Kate and Lisa are ready for the holiday of a lifetime in Mexico. When the opportunity to go cage diving to view Great White sharks presents itself, thrill-seeking Kate jumps at the chance while Lisa takes some convincing. After some not so gentle persuading, Lisa finally agrees and the girls soon find themselves two hours off the coast of Huatulco and about to come face-to-face with nature's fiercest predator.

But what should have been the trip to end all trips soon becomes a living nightmare when the cage breaks free from the boat and plummets to the ocean floor. Kate and Lisa find themselves trapped deep underwater with less than an hour of oxygen left in their tanks. They must somehow work out how to get back to the safety of the boat above through 47 metres of shark-infested waters.

In Between

Director Maysaloun Hamoud’s remarkable debut feature, In Between, is an energetic drama about three strong young Palestinian-Israeli women, sharing a flat in Tel Aviv.

Existing flatmates Leila, a party animal and lawyer from a secular Muslim family, and Salma, a DJ who has yet to come out as a lesbian to her Christian family, are joined by Nour, a conservative Muslim recently moved from to the city. The three outsiders form a strong friendship, supporting each other as they navigate the changing views on womanhood in a
traditionally conservative society.

Assured and vibrant, In Between is a first-of-its-kind portrait of the unbearable daily duality of contemporary Israeli women, caught in between their hometown traditions and the modern values of a big city.
