The Last Survivors

Synopsis

From the producers of You're Next and The Guest.

The Last Survivors follows two teenagers battling to survive in a vast and barren valley, where it has not rained for ten years. As the rain dried up, the rules of society simply blew away, leaving them to single-handedly fight off a gang of bloodthirsty mercenaries, hell bent on seizing their most precious possession, a small water-bearing well.

Waru

A sisterhood of 8 Maori female directors bravely share their insights into the complexity of child abuse, in a sequence of eight short films that seamlessly become one.

At the centre of their stories is Waru, a boy killed at the hands of a caregiver. His tangi, set on a small rural marae, is the centrepiece of the film, but there is an underlying disturbance of heavy themes touching on culture, custom and shame.

Borg/McEnroe
